Recorded in Paris, the album exudes a raw, live feel. Notably, «The Book of Souls» boasts Iron Maiden’s lengthiest song to date, the sprawling 18-minute masterpiece «Empire of the Clouds».
Mark Wilkinson’s striking cover art vividly captures Eddie, Iron Maiden’s mascot, depicted as a Mayan warrior. Debuting atop album charts in 24 countries, it secured Iron Maiden another UK No. 1 spot.
