Marlene Dietrich (December 27, 1901 – May 6, 1992) was actually named Marie Magdalene. However, already at the age of eleven years the girl from Berlin used the stage name “Marlene“. In the golden twenties she had her first appearances in theatres and in silent films. The leading role as the beautiful Lola in the film “The Blue Angel“ brought her world fame in 1930. After this success she moved to Hollywood and eventually took on American citizenship in 1939. With her slim figure, her long legs and her characteristic voice Marlene Dietrich became a world star. As recognition for her acting achievements she received several awards such as a nomination for the Oscar and the Golden Globe. She is unquestionably one of the greatest German female legends in Hollywood.
