Clark Gable (1.2.1901-16.11.1960) advanced as a charming rowdy, who knew how to beguile woman with his arrogance, to one of the greatest Hollywood stars in the first generation. Between 1930 and 1940 he made more than 40 of his overall approx. 80 films. In 1939 he played the role which granted him big fame: Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. In the Second World War he served in the 8th bomber squadron as an aerial gunner in a B-17. After the war he resumed his film career. In 1955 he got married for the 5th time. His last and very successful film was The Misfits. After a number of nominations he won an Oscar in 1935 and The Golden Globe 1959. The American Film Institute elected him on rank 7 for the list of the “25 greatest male film legends of all times”. He was also given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is the 50th anniversary of Clark Gable’s death on November 16, 2010.
